**DID YOU KNOW?**
An estimated 60% of parents choose to know the sex of their babies before they are born.

Expecting a new baby is an exciting time and if you decide to find out the sex of your baby at your 20 week scan, don't announce it to family and friends over the phone or mention it in passing! Have a celebration... Have a Gender Reveal Party!

What is a Gender Reveal Party?
Well, "it does exactly what it says on the tin".  It is a celebration where the gender of the expected baby is revealed, usually when the guests bite into their cupcakes or a bigger cake is sliced to reveal pink sponge for a girl or blue sponge for a boy.

Typically, the parents will find out at exactly the same time as everyone else in the room, having asked their sonographer to seal the news in an envelope, which they will then hand straight to the baker who can get to work on a gender-reveal cake.

Unlike a traditional baby shower the whole family can be involved, husbands/partners especially.  Male guests are allowed, not like a baby shower where the general rule is that only the wives are invited.

**RANDOM FACT**
In medieval times, men were encouraged to tie up one testicle to produce the first child and the other to attempt to produce a second in order to ensure they fathered one of each sex.

So, here The Cupcake Box has got together with some other fabulous suppliers to offer inspiration, creating the perfect Gender Reveal Party.

The whole of the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth, has been gripped by the Diamond Jubilee celebrations these last few days.

We really have enjoyed a much needed revival of community spirit and togetherness whilst showing our collective appreciation of our Queen and our Monarchy.

It truly has been a historic weekend, and one that perhaps our children will not quite be able to fully appreciate until they are a little older.  This does not stop them from being in awe of it all however.

If your children are anything like my daughter they will have been totally overwhelmed by the royal procession and the Queen's balcony appearance, cementing her desire to have a princess themed birthday party.  But times are hard and I am sure that many of us are without question lacking the same budget seen for the Jubilee celebrations.  Not wanting to disappoint I’d say that’s “challenge accepted”!

Here The Cupcake Box (and friends) show you how to throw a party fit for a princess...
Special thanks to Life's A Celebration

Thanks again to David E Owen and his partner for the images.

So today at The Cupcake Box we took a break from the kitchen (after a manic day of baking yesterday) for a photo shoot.  No, not with my buttercream covered Canon ;)  Thank you to David E Owen and his partner for adding their professional touch to proceedings!

Although I can't share the results of the shoot just yet (watch this space, not literally, feel free to go about your daily business and check back next week), I thought I would give a quick "shout out" to the wonderful suppliers who got involved.

Firstly, it was great to finally meet my "partner in crime" Maxine Johnston (and her lovely "mini-me") - Owner of Life's a Celebration, party boxes for all occasions.  I have organised many a party for my daughter, all of them equally stressful (but us Mum's and Dad's plough on and all for the smile on their little faces at the end of it all don't we) but after today I can honestly say that it really is possible to have a "party in 3 easy steps"! Pop over to Maxine's site to find out how...OK perhaps four steps by clicking HERE! ;)
